The Brunello Di Montalcino glass is perfect for balancing the high tannin, acidity and the prominent fruit flavours of the famous Italian wine
Shopping at The Wine Room is safe and secure.
In the past, Brunello di Montalcino was undoubtedly considered Italy’s most prestigious wine. However, the DOCG rules, which require the wine to spend a minimum of four years in barrels, result in flavors which are very different to modern fruit-dominated wines. Even when young, Brunello di Montalcino has an amber color and a surprisingly mature bouquet, somewhat reminiscent of cherries and port. On the palate it is soft and well balanced with firm tannins and a long finish.
The Riedel Vinum Brunello di Montalcino glass developed with the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, was the first Riedel glass to be officially designed for a wine region. In evaluating different glasses, it was the character of the wine itself which led experts to arrive at the final shape.
Recommended for Brunello di Montalcino
1986 was not just an important year for Riedel but for all wine lovers around the world. The launch of the machine-made Vinum glass collection by Riedel Glas fundamentally changed the drinking glass culture. In 1973, Claus J. Riedel, the ninth generation of the family-run company, introduced a winefriendly, handcrafted and hand blown range of glasses. The “Sommeliers” range is now world famous. In 1986, his son, Georg J. Riedel, presented a further innovation which would become even more significant: the first varietal-specific machine-made glass in history – Vinum!
Developed with great passion and based on the well-founded specialist knowledge of Georg J. Riedel, the glasses from the Vinum range provide a reasonably priced alternative to the handcrafted Sommeliers range. With the Vinum range, Riedel has ensured that the company’s philosophy of the functional wine glass is affordable and has thus become world renowned. Vinum has become the best-selling glassware of all time.
