The magic of the Riedel Vinum Prestige Cuvee glass glass is its ability to highlight the full spectrum of aromas and flavors offered by fine champagnes and sparkling wines while preserving their elegant effervescence.
Bubbles pose a challenge. How do you keep the sparkle in sparkling wine? The solution lies at the bottom of each Vinum Prestige Cuvée Flute. Etched into each is a small dot, the purpose of which is to provide a slightly abraded surface that serves to generate a continuous stream of bubbles and prevent the champagne from going flat in the glass. Designed to highlight the bouquet of champagne, this light and well-balanced glass accentuates the complexity and richness of vintage champagnes and prestige cuvées.
1986 was not just an important year for Riedel but for all wine lovers around the world. The launch of the machine-made Vinum glass collection by Riedel Glas fundamentally changed the drinking glass culture. In 1973, Claus J. Riedel, the ninth generation of the family-run company, introduced a winefriendly, handcrafted and hand blown range of glasses. The “Sommeliers” range is now world famous. In 1986, his son, Georg J. Riedel, presented a further innovation which would become even more significant: the first varietal-specific machine-made glass in history – Vinum!
Developed with great passion and based on the well-founded specialist knowledge of Georg J. Riedel, the glasses from the Vinum range provide a reasonably priced alternative to the handcrafted Sommeliers range. With the Vinum range, Riedel has ensured that the company’s philosophy of the functional wine glass is affordable and has thus become world renowned. Vinum has become the best-selling glassware of all time.
